Hands Across America

In the 1980s, the World seems to have had a charity event for all of Humans frailties.

A lesson learned during the concluding moments of Hands Across America in Battery Park. As fate would have it, I ran out of film, when a watchful NYPD officer demanded my Photographer's ID. In that tense moment, a serendipitous savior appeared—the keen eye of a fellow photographer from The New York Times. With a casual 'Hey Red,' he tossed me two rolls of black & white film, prompting the NYPD officer to pivot away. (22pics)

One Tip: That sometimes, in the world of photography, camaraderie & a spare roll of film can turn an unexpected challenge into an unforgettable tale.
